Editor-in-Chief – William Schreiber:
GW Discourse editor in chief William Schreiber is a sophmore in the University Honors Program, majoring in international affairs with a concentration in Europe and Eurasia. Selected based on tests of his AP Style comprehension, Schreiber served from 2008 to 2009 as copy editor for The GW Hatchet, where he gained familiarity with the editorial production process and was responsible for grammatical quality and clarity.
An Eagle Scout, Schreiber was nominated for GW’s Outstanding Student Service Award for his work teaching a class of sixth-graders from D.C. public schools. After taking a year of Polish immersion classes, he will be teaching English this summer in Bieszczady, a rural region on Poland’s border with Ukraine. He was certified by the Urban Education Exchange and TESOL.
International Affairs Editor -Dan Rozenson:
Dan Rozenson is a junior majoring in international affairs and minoring in political science and history. He is interested in international security politics, especially the Arab-Israeli conflict. He is a PR director for the GW Student Alliance For Israel. Dan is a founding editor of Lapid, an on-campus student journal focusing on Israel and Jewish issues. He has interned for the Massachusetts House of Representatives and currently interns for Sen. John Kerry.
Dan joined GW Discourse in his freshman year and has been an online contributor and an international affairs staff writer. He has blogged extensively for GW Discourse and for the GW College Democrats at blog.gwcollegedemocrats.com.
Domestic Affairs Editor – Samantha Dercher:
Samantha Dercher is a senior with a major in political science. In her sophomore and junior years, she was the Artistic Director of Forbidden Planet Productions, a student-run theatre organization at GW which was nominated for Performance Group of the Year in GW’s 2008-2009 Excellence Awards. She has performed in nine shows at GW and directed Forbidden Planet Productions’ Third Annual Musical Cabaret showcase, where she oversaw nine directors and over fifty performers in GW’s largest student theatre production to date. She has interned at the Student Conservation Assocation, a non-profit environmental organization, and Ensemble Studio Theatre, a nonprofit theater company in Manhattan. She currently works as the Programming Associate for Springboard Enterprises, a nonprofit organization which promotes women’s entrepreneurship by connecting women business owners with investors and venture capital resources all over the world.
Political Theory Editor – Alejandra Barrio:
Alejandra Barrio is a junior in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences majoring in Political Science and Philosophy, with a minor in History. Alejandra is currently an executive officer for Phi Eta Sigma, GW’s freshman honor society, and an upcoming guide for GW’s Community Building Community program. Her previous involvement at GW includes membership in the Dean’s Council for Multicultural Recruitment, STARS, DC Reads, and the executive board of the Organization of Latino American Students.
Before entering GW, Alejandra volunteered for a state senator to survey the low voter turnout of the local Hispanic community in El Paso, Texas. She was also heavily involved in the National Hispanic Institute and achieved the title of National Impromptu Speaking Champion for their YLC debate program. As a student in the District, Alejandra served as an intern for the Commission on Immigration of the American Bar Association, where she aided in correspondence with refugees and detainees in detention centers all over the country. She currently works in a personal injury and workers compensation law firm.
