I was doing some research today on defense spending and came across the chart on the Government Printing Office website, I think it will help put things in perspective to recent events. I did a little more digging and found the government is requesting and additional $189.3 billion for GWOT obligations in FY 2008 (some of which has already been paid out).
The total of all this comes to around $680.8 billion, just shy of the $700 billion congress approved for the bailout package.
