With the 24/7 news cycle, how the candidates say what they say is extremely important. This applies not just to the gaffes of Joe “Stand up and be recognized” Biden, but also to the way in which candidates phrase their stances. For a policy wonk like me, I’ve prefered Obama’s website to McCain’s because he spends a great deal of time explaining his policies. But as this outstanding article in Slate.com, it is interesting to note how the wording is being changed slightly to adjust to the issues of the campaign. Compared to McCain’s Mad Libs-esque policy statements, Obama runs the risk of getting himself tied down in wording. However, it could very well be that most people pay no mind to these policy statements, and the wording changes don’t matter much.
